PM: The development of Baghdad International Airport comes within a comprehensive vision adopted by the government

     Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed today, Thursday, that the development of Baghdad International Airport comes within a comprehensive vision adopted by the government.

    A statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said, “The Prime Minister chaired a meeting that included a delegation from the International Finance Corporation/IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, to follow up on the agreement signed with the Corporation to rehabilitate and develop Baghdad International Airport.

    The Prime Minister confirmed, during The meeting stated that “the interest in developing Baghdad International Airport, which represents Iraq’s interface with the world, comes within a comprehensive vision adopted by the government to develop all airports and improve their services, as well as the trend towards diversifying transport routes and connectivity with all parts of the world.”.

    The statement touched on the bilateral agreement signed in Last September with a delegation from the International Finance Corporation, he said that the corporation’s support includes providing consultations in the field of developing the role of the private sector, and presenting an integrated investment portfolio that includes how the international airport is expanded, financed, operated, and maintained, and made it compatible with international standards for airports in the world, through one of Specialized international companies.

    The statement continued that the International Finance Corporation has pioneering experiences in the region and the world in the field of airport rehabilitation, as it previously supervised the development and expansion of the most important airports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Turkey, in addition to Queen Alia International Airport in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
