INA- Baghdad
The Ministry of Oil announced Wednesday that the percentage of Iraqi labor in the Rumaila field exceeded 90 percent, noting that companies must accredit Iraqi labor for over 85 percent.
Ministry spokesman Assem Jihad told the Iraqi News Agency INA that "The government has decided not to allocate job grades within the budgets for 2023, 2024, and 2025," noting that "companies must hire Iraqi labor by over 85%, as the Rumaila field, which is the most luxurious field, its percentage of national labor exceeded 90%."
"Secondary contracting companies that work to complete a particular project rely on temporary labor for hard work or complex technical work, besides their existing competencies, and each project takes years depending on the project," Jihad said.
He added that "the main contracting companies are obliged to the process of employing national labor and the mentioned percentages, but everyone knows that there is great pressure not to provide job opportunities in the ministry, which caused very large numbers of employees in the other ministries, which increased pressure for the lack of investment opportunities for companies."
