Federal Intelligence And Investigations Agency FIIA announced on Thursday, freeing a citizen after his abduction in Najaf and arresting the kidnappers.
FIIA said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the detachments of FIIA specialized in combating terrorism in the province of Najaf, received accurate information, including two gunmen riding a vehicle kidnapped a citizen in one of the districts of the province”.
"An intelligence and technical team was formed to investigate and collect information about the gunmen, and less than an hour later, the location of the gunmen and the hostage was reached, the house was raided, freed the hostage and arrested the accused , the vehicle and a pistol-type weapon were also seized", the statement added.
the statement continued that “The defendants, when interrogated, openly admitted that they kidnapped the citizen in order to demand money from his family in exchange for his release", explaining that "their statements were recorded and referred to the concerned authorities to get their fair punishment”.
