The Federal Supreme Court confirmed on Thursday, that the decision to terminate the membership of the Speaker of Parliament , Muhammad al-Halbousi, is not subject to legal appeal.
The president of the court, Jassem Al-Amiri, said in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency (INA), which will be published later: “The Federal Court’s recent decision, which includes terminating the membership of Parliament, Muhammad Rikan Al-Halbousi, and MP Laith Mustafa Hammoud Al-Dulaimi, has become binding on all authorities, according to what is stated in Article 94 From the Constitution."
He added, "This decision is not subject to any means of legal appeal," noting that "the Federal Court is competent to consider such various cases in accordance with Article 93 of the Constitution."
The Federal Court decided earlier to terminate the membership of the Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi.
The court stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that it considered the case No. 9/Federal/2023."
The court added, “The court decided in accordance with the ruling issued, to terminate the membership of the Parliament , Muhammad Rekan Al-Halbousi, and to terminate the membership of MP Laith Mustafa Hamoud Al-Dulaimi, as of the date of issuance of the ruling on 11/14/2023, a final decision that is binding on all authorities."
