FIIA foils smuggling more than 800 thousand dollars

    Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency FIIA announced on Thursday, thwarting of smuggling of 800 thousand dollars that were in the possession of smuggling gangs and speculators at a dollar price.

    A statement by FIIA received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said that " within a series of qualitative goals achieved by the Directorate of combating organized crime / within the federal intelligence and investigations agency, the detachments received accurate information about the smuggling gangs and speculators at the dollar price through their practice of making transfers inside and outside the country and selling and buying the dollar currency contrary to the instructions of the central bank, which would harm the national economy".
     
    The statement pointed out that "the detachments specialized in combating organized crime formed a specialized intelligence and technical team to investigate and collect information about these speculators, and after completing technical investigations and judicial approvals, the detachments began to raid more than one qualitative target within the province of Baghdad and a group of Provinces, which resulted in the arrest of a group of speculators and the seizure of financial amounts estimated at 806,370 dollars”.
     
    The statement added that "the defendants openly admitted during the investigation that they made transfers at home and abroad and bought and sold dollars contrary to the instructions of the central bank", noting that "their statements were written down and referred to the concerned authorities in preparation for their appearance before the judiciary and trial in accordance with the money laundering law, which provides for the confiscation of their funds obtained as a result of money laundering operations to get their fair punishment”.
     
    According to the statement, FIIA called on "citizens to the importance of reporting on all outlaws and throughout Iraq by calling the toll-free hot number 144".
