Electricity Minister Ziad Ali Fadil arrived in Turkmenistan, on Tuesday, headed by a government delegation, to complete procedures for supplying Turkmenistan's gas to Iraq, according to a statement by the Ministry of The Electricity, received by The Iraqi News Agency-INA.
He noted that "The delegation will hold meetings with energy officials in Turkmenistan, to complete the consultations held in Baghdad last month, which resulted in signing a memorandum of understanding between the two countries for the supply of gas to Iraq through the Iranian pipe system to Iraqi power plants".
"This visit comes in line with the directives of the government program, which emphasized the diversification of energy sources supplied to Iraq, the increase in the hours of electricity supply to citizens, completing the gas investment projects and the completion of renewable energy projects currently implemented, until achieving self-sufficiency of energy locally," the statement added.
