MOI discusses with five ambassadors intelligence work and combating terrorism

The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, discussed, today, Saturday, with the ambassadors of France, Australia, the European Union, Turkey and Pakistan, intelligence work and combating terrorism.

The Ministry of Interior stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Minister of Interior Abdul Amir al-Shammari met with the Ambassador of the Republic of France to Iraq, and they discussed strengthening joint cooperation between the Ministry and its French counterpart.”.

The French ambassador praised "the security progress in Iraq," stressing "his country's keenness to continue coordination in the security fields.".

The statement added: "In addition, the Minister met with the Australian Ambassador on the occasion of the end of her work in Iraq, wishing her success in her next work, praising her role in strengthening relations between Iraq and Australia.".

For her part, the Australian Ambassador thanked the Ministry of the Interior for providing all facilities during her time as her country's ambassador.

The statement continued: “Meanwhile, the Minister of Interior met with the European Union Ambassador on the occasion of assuming his duties as European Union Ambassador to Iraq, and the two sides discussed raising the level of cooperation in various fields, most notably the fight against terrorism and drugs, and it was emphasized to develop a common point of view to enhance coordination in the future.”.

While the minister also met, according to the statement, “the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Iraq, and discussed with him a number of issues of common interest, in the presence of the new military attaché, and the meeting included a discussion of coordination in the fields of training, intelligence work, and border control.”.

The statement pointed out, "Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Pakistan to Iraq on the occasion of the end of his work duties, praising his efforts during his time as Ambassador of the Republic of Pakistan, wishing him success in his future work."
