Minister of transport: we are working on identifying tracks and stations for the railway link project with Iran

    Transport Minister Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi announced on Thursday ,the work on identifying tracks and stations for the railway link project with Iran.

    The Ministry of Transport said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "As part of his continuous field tours to follow up work on the ministry's projects in Basra province, Minister Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi visited the Shalamcheh port to discuss the details and belongings of the railway connection for transporting passengers with the Iranian side accompanied by Basra governor Asaad Al-Eidani, Director General of the general company of Iraqi ports Farhan Al-Fartusi and a number of officials in the railways and border ports," noting that "Saadawi held an important meeting with officials to discuss the railway link project between Basrah and Shlamshah for the transportation of passengers."

    According to the statement Al-Saadawi stressed that "our visit to the Shalamcheh port comes within the planned visits to follow up important projects in the Ministry of transport on the ground," considering that "field follow-up brings good results on the progress of work in general."

     
    The statement added" After the approval of the Basra governorate departments on the course of the project, we worked today to follow up on this project, to identify the areas containing mines, which are being removed," pointing out that "our government represented by its chairman, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, made several decisions centered on completing the requirements of the project implementation, which we have started work on."

    It pointed out that" the ministry is currently working on determining the routes, schedules of quantities, bridges, initial and final stations of the project” ,pointing out that "the railway connection for the transport of passengers and visitors is a key pillar in strengthening the infrastructure of our economy and raising Iraq's ability to communicate with neighboring countries and Central Asian countries."

    After the meeting, the minister went to the border connection point between Iraq and Iran to find out the strategic and technical plans for the project.
    Basra governor Asaad Al-Eidani stressed that" the tracks and conflicts have been approved by the ministries of oil and finance” ,noting that "this track defines the railway line laid the foundation stone for the prime minister in coordination with the Iranian side to transport passengers."
     
    "The Iranian side has pledged to remove the mines that accompany the railway track since the war.
