Justice Ministry announces exchanging prisoners, concluding MOU with several countries

    The Ministry of Justice revealed the conclusion of memorandums of understanding and agreements with several countries on the file of judicial cooperation and the transfer and exchange of prisoners.
     
    Ministry of Justice spokesman Kamel Amin told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Prisoner transfers continue in accordance with bilateral agreements and are limited and do not include those convicted of crimes affecting state security.”
     
    He added, "Prisoner transfers took place in accordance with the specifications with the Iranian side, as well as with Britain, in addition to other countries, and work is underway to exchange prisoners with Morocco."
     
    He pointed out that "the memorandums of understanding and agreements revolve around judicial and legal cooperation and the exchange of experiences, in addition to the presence of various attachés for the agreements concluded with the judicial cooperation part of them being assigned to the jurisdiction of the judiciary, and the Ministry of Justice being limited to legal cooperation and the areas entrusted to it, despite the differences in the memorandums."
     
    He pointed out that "there are agreements with several countries, including the Taif Agreement between the Arab countries and the Islamic Republic of Iran and Britain, in addition to other countries."
