PM: Dutch companies will be a distinguished addition to infrastructure reconstruction efforts in Iraq

    Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed today, Friday, that Dutch companies will be a distinguished addition to the infrastructure reconstruction efforts in Iraq.

    The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani met in New York, this Friday evening (Baghdad time), Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, on the sidelines of his participation in the 10th session. 78 of the work of the United Nations General Assembly.

    He added, "The meeting witnessed discussion of various aspects of cooperation between the two friendly countries, and ways to enhance them and support the economic partnership, for the benefit of the Iraqi and Dutch peoples.".

    He pointed out, "The formation of a bilateral council was discussed between the two countries, for cooperation in the field of agriculture, water, and water resources management, especially since the Netherlands is one of the leading countries in this field, and Iraq's desire to benefit from Dutch expertise in the field of confronting the effects of climate change, and in renewable energy." .

    During the meeting, Al-Sudani appreciated “the Netherlands’ support for Iraq in its war against ISIS, as part of the efforts of the international coalition to combat terrorism and the NATO mission, noting” the importance of the strategic partnership agreement signed between Iraq and the European Union. The Prime Minister affirmed, according to the statement,
    “ The Iraqi investment arena welcomes Dutch companies, and they will be a distinguished addition to the infrastructure reconstruction efforts in Iraq.

    For his part, Rutte stressed “the Netherlands’ desire to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between the two countries,” calling on Al-Sudani to “visit Amsterdam, for more meetings and discussions in Sectors of possible cooperation and meeting with businessmen and representatives of Dutch companies, and that he aspires to develop facilitation opportunities and contribute to the business, reconstruction and development sector, especially in light of the stability achieved in Iraq.”
