Turkish Minister for Health Fahrettin Koca said on Wednesday that Turkey is sending a ship carrying equipment to establish two field hospitals to Libya following a catastrophic flood that killed thousands of people.

Turkey had already sent three aircraft to transport humanitarian aid, a rescue team and an 11-member medical team to the African country on Tuesday. The Turkish Minister for Health said in a statement via social media that the vessel will depart from Izmir on Wednesday night and will transport ambulances and emergency response vehicles.

Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that diplomats from the Turkish embassy in Tripoli, and medical and rescue teams arrived in the flood-hit areas to coordinate humanitarian efforts.
Turkey is ready to provide more humanitarian help to Libya if required, Hakan Fidan told a news conference with British Minister for Foreign Affairs James Cleverly.
The Turkish rescue team had pulled six people from the debris of flood-hit areas in Libya as of Wednesday morning, the FM added.
