Interior ministry announces a 90% reduction in oil derivatives smuggling operations

The energy Police Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, on Thursday, counted the seizures of oil derivatives during the current year, while pointing to a decrease of 90 percent.

The director general of the energy Police, Major General Dhafer Al-Husseini, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "the operations of seizing oil derivatives intended for smuggling since the beginning of 2023 until the end of August, produced the seizure of 497 tanks," indicating that "these operations also resulted in the seizure of 99 dens, the arrest of 558 defendants, and the seizure of 3 infringing stations.

He pointed out that" 25,000,000 liters of fuel have been returned to the state, "stressing that"smuggling operations have decreased by 90 percent, and there are no violations on oil pipelines in all provinces of Iraq.
