Turkish FM: We are closely following the problem of water scarcity in Iraq

    Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed on Tuesday, that the Turkish government is closely following the problem of water scarcity in Iraq while referring to his country's support for the government of Prime Minister Muhammed S. Al-Sudani and his vision in establishing the development path project.

    "We are working at the highest levels to solve the outstanding problems between the two countries," said Fidan during a joint press conference with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, which was attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency - INA, stressing that "his country supports Iraq's territorial integrity, unity and sovereignty."

    He added, "We support the government of Prime Minister Muhammed S. Al-Sudani and his efforts to renew the infrastructure in the country and his vision in establishing the development road project and the importance he attaches to the project," noting that "this project will bring prosperity to Iraq and the region as it turns Iraq into a transport hub in the region," calling on all countries in the region to "support the development path project."

    Fidan indicated that "the meeting with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein touched on issues of counterterrorism and what is related to the Kurdistan Workers' Party. We also discussed removing obstacles in front of investors in the two countries," stressing "his country's readiness to support Iraq in the war on terrorism."

    He pointed out that "the volume of trade between Iraq and Turkey reaches $25 billion, which is lagging behind the real capabilities," noting that "the Turkish government is closely following the water scarcity in Iraq, and we are dealing with the issue from a humanitarian point of view."
