The Chinese company, Power China, participating in the project to establish model schools in Iraq, counted the number of what was close to completion, and while it summarized the difficulties faced by the project, it confirmed the near delivery of 400 model schools throughout Iraq.

The company's director in Iraq, Lee Do Ji, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The company is responsible for building 679 model schools within the project to establish (1000) schools," pointing out that "about 400 model schools are close to complete completion, and about 30 model schools have been completed and are awaiting delivery to the Iraqi side.

Ji added, "At the end of the current year 2023, it is expected that 400 model schools will be completed and delivered," noting that "the schools are distributed in various regions."

He continued, "At the beginning of the implementation of the project, we faced major difficulties and problems, including some allocated plots of land that were occupied by some previously existing real estate, in addition to extending water and electricity networks.".

He stressed, "With efforts made by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, these problems were gradually resolved, but there is a second major difficulty represented in the fact that the project completion period coincides with the election period, and therefore we found some problems and difficulties in the financial field and financing."

He pointed out that "Power China, the executing company for this project, paid about 20% of the total value of the project, at a value of approximately US $ 200 million," noting that "there is a third difficulty, which is that some of the plots allocated for building schools did not meet the area required to hand over the school." .

And he stated, "Until this moment, some schools are undergoing modification and changing the location from one piece of land to another, the area of which meets the required standards, and therefore all these difficulties and problems have led to the postponement and delay of the implementation of this project.".

He stressed, "Thanks to the efforts of the Iraqi state and all parties, including contractors, supervision companies, local governments, and official government agencies, the project will be completed in the near future."
