The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee hosted the Minister of Defense, Thabit Al-Abbasi. While it showed the most prominent points of the high-level security delegation that visited the United States of America recently, it indicated that the minister confirmed its success.
They discussed the formation of a joint supreme security committee between Baghdad and Washington, according to the head of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Abbas Al-Zamili, in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
He added, "The Iraqi-US relationship was discussed on the security side and many other files that were reviewed by the committee. The Minister of Defense informed the committee that the visit of the security delegation was successful."
"The delegation, according to what was confirmed by the Minister of Defense, did not conclude any new contracts with the United States of America, but old contracts were discussed, especially contracts for F16 aircraft and Abrams tanks, the issue of their maintenance and services, and the presence of American experts and advisors in Iraq," he mentioned.
