The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Special Forces, Yahya Rasool, announced on Monday, that a high-level delegation headed by Minister of Defense Thabet Muhammad Al-Abbasi has begun his visit to the United States of America.
Rasool said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "at an official invitation from the US Department of Defense (Pentagon), a high-level delegation headed by Defense Minister Thabet Muhammad al-Abbasi began a visit to the United States of America."
It explained, "The delegation includes the head of the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (ICTS), Lieutenant General Abd al-Wahhab al-Saadi, the Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General, Special Forces, Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Qais al-Muhammadawi, and a number of advisors and officers."
The statement pointed out that "during this visit, the delegation will hold several meetings to discuss a number of issues, foremost of which is the future relationship of the presence of the international coalition, bilateral security cooperation between Iraq and the United States, and the exchange of experiences and information, especially in the intelligence aspect in pursuing the remaining elements of the terrorist ISIS gangs," It explained that "the visit includes holding a series of meetings with officials in the US Department of Defense to serve the common interests of the two countries."
