The Prime Minister's Adviser for Yazidi Affairs, Khalaf Sinjari, identified three basic files that the government is working on to support Sinjar and the Yazidis, confirming the formation of a special committee to search for 2,600 disappeared Yazidis.
“There are more than 2,600 Yazidis who are missing and their fate is unknown,” Sinjari told The Iraqi News Agency-INA." There is a special committee formed in the Prime Minister's office to search for the kidnapped, and to work for the return of the abductees to their families."
He stressed that "The file requires joint community efforts between the government and society to reach their whereabouts," calling on citizens who have information to "submit it in order to find the missing persons."
He pointed out that "Sinjar is affected area because the scale of destruction in the infrastructure reached 80 percent and 75 percent in homes," noting that "there is a fund established for the reconstruction of Sinjar, and financial allocations were available for it, as announced by the Prime Minister."
He pointed out that "the government's plans are to appoint a district mayor in the administration, and the specialized committee is currently working day and night for the purpose of appointing a district mayor, in addition to appointing 1,500 members of the Yazidi component in Sinjar in the police, to be responsible for the security of the city and the region."
Sinjari continued: "These are the basic files (the administrative file, the security file, and the reconstruction file) that the government is working on ".
