Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf confirmed today, Thursday, that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will visit Iraq in the second half of this August.
Al-Sahhaf said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein received the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Iraq, Ali Reza Konay.".
He added, "During the meeting, aspects of cooperation between Baghdad and Ankara were reviewed, and ways to strengthen and develop bilateral relations, in a way that serves the interest of the two friendly peoples. The two sides also discussed the upcoming visit of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to Baghdad in the second half of this month, as well as deliberation regarding the contribution of Turkey is in the development path project along with the rest of the neighboring countries, and the file of shared waters.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed, "The Iraqi government tends to create an attractive environment for foreign investment, and to provide ways to develop promising investment opportunities for foreign companies to invest in Iraq," noting, "Turkish companies have played an important role in the construction process in Iraq.".
For his part, the Turkish ambassador affirmed "his country's desire to resolve outstanding issues between the two countries," noting that "the coming period will witness a quantum leap in the development of relations between the two countries."
