The National Security Service announced on Tuesday, details of overthrowing a network of major smugglers and dollar speculators.
"We carried out a big campaign to pursue currency smugglers. We overthrown the largest smuggling networks with a possession of $14 million intended for smuggling," said the Service, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The statement added, "The arrested defendants confessed to using fictitious companies as a cover for currency smuggling," noting that "the arrested smuggling network consisted of 11 suspects in Baghdad."
"Overthrowing 12 accused of smuggling currency in the governorates of Basra, Diyala and Muthanna, was a possession of more than 300 million dinars," included in the statement.
