Iraq,Tunisia hold a meeting for Political Consultations between both countries

    The undersecretary of the ministry for bilateral relations, Mohammed Hussein Mohammed Bahr al-Uloom, and the state secretary at the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and migration, Mohammed Mounir Ben rajiba, held a meeting for Political Consultations between Iraq and Tunisia in Baghdad on Sunday.

    According to a statement by the ministry received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), " The undersecretary of the ministry for bilateral relations, Mohammed Hussein Mohammed Bahr al-Uloom, received the state secretary at the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Mohammed Mounir bin rajiba," indicating that " During the meeting, ways of developing bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries were discussed as well as discussing political and cultural axes of common interest.

    Bahr al-Uloom stressed " The importance of upgrading bilateral trade relations and working to increase exports and imports between the two countries," stressing "Iraq's position supporting the democratic transition in Tunisia and the aspirations of its government to build a democratic system that meets the aspirations of the Tunisian people at all political, economic and social levels. 

    "The current movement on the regional and international arenas was discussed to reach understandings between the concerned countries on tackling illegal migration and reducing its negative consequences on the international community, as well as ways to strengthen cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and drying up its human and financial sources,"he added.

    For his part, the state secretary of the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and migration expressed " The Tunisian government's interest in developing bilateral relations and its endeavor to intensify political consultations between the two countries and exchange views on current regional and international issues".

    They stressed the importance of intensifying bilateral dialogues between the two sides, especially with regard to activating the cultural executive program concluded between the two countries and completing the requirements for signing a memorandum of understanding between the ministries of higher education and the Ministry of interior of the two countries to cooperate in scientific and security fields of common interest.
