Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Yarallah, discussed on Tuesday the security preparations for commemorating the tenth of Muharram-Ashura.
A statement by the media office of the Governor of Karbala, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated, " Karbala Governor Nassif Jassim Al-Khattabi, received the Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Yarallah, and his accompanying delegation, which included the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant General Qais al-Muhammadawi, and the military commanders at the Army, in the presence of Karbala Operations Commander, Karbala Police Commander, the Commander of the Middle Euphrates Operations of the Popular Mobilization Forces, and the General Supervisor of al-Abbas (peace be upon him) combat squad."
The statement indicated that "during the meeting they discussed the security measures and preparations taken by the governorate to receive the pilgrims to commemorate the tenth of Muharram al-Haram -Ashura."
