The Federation of Chambers of Commerce confirmed the improvement in the movement of Iraq's exports and explained the most prominent products, pointing to the decline in Turkish exports to the country, and explaining at the same time the advantages of the memorandum of understanding signed with Pakistan.

"Pakistan is one of the countries with which we have very old economic relations," said the head of the federation, Abdul Razzaq Al-Zuhairi, to the Iraqi News Agency - INA, noting that "this Asian country has recently emerged as a country with high natural resources and important ports."

He added, "Pakistan wanted Iraq to be an economic station and for there to be great commercial cooperation between the two countries. There is a positive view by Iraqi merchants in dealing with Pakistan because the next region is Iraq towards Asia."

"Goods of Asian origin are good, which come from China, Indonesia, India, and also Pakistan, and the rest of the Asian countries enjoy a good economic position," he added, explaining, "We signed a memorandum of understanding between the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce and the Pakistan Chamber of Commerce regarding the Silk Road, which will be an important strategic pathway."

He stressed, "Pakistan possesses important raw materials, as is the case with Bangladesh and India, which possess special materials in textile matters," pointing out, "These materials are included in Iraqi industries in addition to local industries that may suit the Iraqi market because they are cheap and at the same time has very good industrial potential."

"Turkey remains the second Iraqi partner or exporter after China because there is continuous communication and a great desire for the Iraqi importer of Turkish goods. The goods are good and fit the market and their prices are acceptable," he included, pointing out, "The level of exports from Turkey decreased by a rate of one billion dollars for this reason. This year, there are new markets that entered Iraq, including the Gulf, Asian and European markets, which competed with the Turkish product."

Al-Zuhairi affirmed that "Iraqi exports are good, and dates rank first in Iraqi exports, in addition to food products, soft drinks, carbonated drinks, sour oils, biscuits, various juices, cardboard waste, aviation fuel, etc."
