JOC announces the plan for the holy month of Muharram

The Joint Operations Command JOC clarified, on Sunday, the details of its security plan for the month of Muharram, while setting the date of its completion.

" JOC in cooperation with the security commands in Anbar, holy Karbala, Baghdad and Samarra are working on the plan for the holy month of Muharram," JOC spokesman Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji told the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

He explained that " the plan included intensifying the intelligence and security effort and increasing the number of sectors in terms of intelligence and security, as well as the deployment of intelligence and security elements in civilian uniforms, "noting that"the plan also included the health sector and the processions as well as securing the roads of pilgrims to the holy city of Karbala, Kadhimiya, Samarra and the rest of the holy cities.

"The security forces have launched pre-emptive operations to pursue Daesh gangs and put pressure on terrorist groups, in addition to increasing the effort and conducting aerial reconnaissance by the Air Force and Army Aviation in order to secure the areas where the ceremonies of the month of Muharram are held,"he added.

He pointed out that"the plan extends until the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), and the ministries of transport, trade, health and interior, as well as the Ministry of Defense, the Popular Mobilization and all security sectors participate in it".
