GECF stresses importance of Iraq's role in oil and energy sector

    The secretary general of the Gas Exporting Countries forum GECF, Mohammed Hamel, on Friday, stressed the importance of the role played by Iraq in the oil and gas sector.

    The Ministry of oil, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said that " Deputy Prime Minister for energy affairs and oil minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani, met in Vienna the secretary general of the Gas Exporting Countries forum Mohammed Hamel.

    "During the meeting, they discussed the developments in the growth of the gas sector in the world, where they stressed the importance of supporting gas and renewable energy investment projects, and the role played by the oil and gas sector in addressing environmental impacts,"the statement added.

    The statement pointed out that"the minister of oil gave a brief on the development of the gas sector in Iraq through government support for optimal investment of gas wealth and reducing emissions and converting them into energy that contribute to the promotion of associated industries.

    The minister of oil referred to the"national strategy aimed at investing free and associated gas, as well as the development and investment of exploration sites with hydrocarbon - gas compositions through cooperation with specialized international companies and the exploitation of smart technologies to increase energy efficiency".

    For his part, the secretary general of the forum of gas exporting countries stressed the "importance of the role played by Iraq in the oil and energy sector," praising "its efforts in the development and development of promising gas projects in Iraq.
