A statement by INSS received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said that "in continuation of the efforts of the national security service to combat and reduce the phenomenon of extortion, and after receiving a complaint via the toll-free hotline from a person who was subjected to extortion by an unknown party with the presentation of evidence that he owns; the detachments in Baghdad governorate, after obtaining judicial approvals, were able to decipher an innovative extortion operation.
It explained that"the detachments followed the complaint threads to get to the fact that one of the victim's acquaintances who promised to help him is the same blackmailer who used this trick to remove suspicions from himself and get his gains, where he was lured by a tight ambush and arrested ".
"The accused was referred to the competent judicial authorities after recording his statement to receive his fair punishment," it added.
