FIIA captures the so-called "Sharia Mufti" in Salah al-Din province

Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency (FIIA) announced on Wednesday, the capture of the so-called "Sharia Mufti" in Salah al-Din province.

A statement by the Security Media Cell, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the detachments of the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency at the Ministry of Interior, by intensifying intelligence efforts and accurate information, were able to arrest two wanted terrorists in accordance with the provisions of Article Four of the Anti-Terrorism Law, in Salah province."

The statement indicated that "one of the terrorists was working as the so-called "Sharia Mufti" in Salah al-Din sector, and information and documents indicate that he issued fatwas authorizing the killing of members of the security services and citizens, in addition to the kidnapping and execution of members of the armed forces."

It added, "The statements of the accused were recorded and they will be referred to the competent judicial authorities to receive their just punishment."
