DMC: The budget dealt with the digital world extensively for the first time in the history of Iraq

    The Digital Media Center (DMC) confirmed today, Friday, that the Federal General Budget Law dealt with the digital world extensively for the first time in the history of Iraq. 

    The official spokesman for the Digital Media Center, Hussein al-Mawla, said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Addressing these issues and addressing them in this way is an integrated national strategy for developing digital work in the country, as indicated by the provisions of the law and obligated by the competent authorities.".

    He added, "The budget included new legal texts that keep pace with the requirements of the stage and the requirements of the digital age, including the registration of smart applications with the Media and Communications Commission and the sectoral authorities by issuing a regulation in this regard.".

    Al-Mawla indicated, "The law has also referred to imposing fees on the owners of advertising content, as the budget imposes fees for publishing and promoting all commercial advertisements, which are carried out by celebrities and owners of digital content on social networking sites, and this was confirmed and called for by the Digital Media Center in several statements."     Al-Mawla pointed out, "The law obligates the General Tax Authority by the Ministry of Finance to impose income tax on foreign and local social media companies and digital broadcasting platforms, and this text is in line with what many developed countries have followed in regulating the digital sector.".

    The Digital Media Center confirmed, according to the statement, that "the budget law obligated the Media and Communications Authority to contract with a specialized company to start a project that provides a complete registration platform for mobile devices, so that its mission is to ensure that no evasion of taxes and customs fees is made by importing mobile devices illegally and to ensure that counterfeit devices are not imported." stolen, reproduced and fraudulent consumer protection.
