The Ministry of Electricity announced today, Monday, the imminent start of a project to establish a solar power plant in Basra.
The ministry said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Minister of Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadhil, held a meeting with the director of the French company Total for renewable energies affairs in Iraq, Khalid Al-Abdali, in the presence of the Director General of the Planning and Studies Department and the Director General of the Technical Department in the ministry, and the company procedures were discussed regarding the project to establish a solar power station of 1000 megawatts in the Artawi oil field in Basra Governorate, which it is hoped to start implementing After approval by the Council of Ministers last week.
