MOWR: Tharthar project will contribute to enhancing water releases in the Euphrates

    Ministry of Water Resources-MOWR confirmed Today, Friday that Tharthar project will contribute to enhancing water releases in the Euphrates River.
     
    "The project works to draw water from Tharthar Lake, which cannot be used in natural conditions except in the case of installing floating pumps to feed the Euphrates River with the aim of reducing the effects of water scarcity and delivering water rations to the river vicinity, The director general of water resources in eastern Anbar, Eng. Raed Abd Mansi, said, according to a ministry statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA)."
     
    the Director of Tharthar Project, Eng. Jamil Ghadir, stated that "the project management staff are carrying out the work of installing pumping crews of different drains, that work with diesel and electric power, to enhance releases through the Dra’a Degla canal towards the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and the provinces of Al-Dha’ib and secure water for liquefaction stations and agricultural lands." Pointing out that "the General Authority for the Operation and Maintenance of the Tigris River Basin is carrying out works of installing and operating floating pumps in Tharthar Lake to treat water scarcity and ensure the delivery of water rations to the provinces of Al-Dha'ib and the liquefaction stations spread on the main rivers and agricultural lands."
     
    For his part, the director of Fallujah and al-Tharthar site affiliated with the Department of Execution of River Dredging Works, Eng. Yusuf Amish Abboud, said, "Technical and engineering staffs are working to remove mud deposits from the front of al-Tharthar stream with the aim of smooth water flow and regulation of water releases," Stressing that "the works include digging the basin of Tharthar station, removing the earthen dam separating the channel from al-Tharthar channel and the basin, and raising the level of the platform to install the station to the required levels."
