The Chairperson of the African Union Commission welcomes the cease-fire efforts in Sudan

    The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, welcomed today, Friday, the efforts of Saudi Arabia and the United States to cease fire in Sudan.

    Faki said during his speech at the opening of the Arab summit in Jeddah, which was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We welcome the efforts of Saudi Arabia and the United States to cease fire in Sudan," noting: "We are going through delicate international circumstances, and decisive decisions must be taken to resolve the crises it faces.".

    He pointed out that "the conflict in Sudan will not be military, and it is not in the interest of the Sudanese people to destroy the state and its infrastructure," stressing that "violence in Sudan threatens the entire region."
    He called for "forming an international bloc to strengthen efforts aimed at peace and to establish a civilian government to put the democratic path back on track."
