Interior Minister stresses the development of future plans to reduce the scourge of drugs

    The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, stressed on Monday, the development of future plans to reduce the scourge of drugs.
     
    A statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated, "The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, participated in the work of the annual scientific conference to combat drugs, which came under the auspices and supervision of the Minister of Health, Saleh Mahdi al-Hasnawi, for the period from 7 to 8 May in the Medical City, Baghdad."
     
    Al-Shammari affirmed, "The Ministry of Interior, as the first concerned authority in addressing this major crime, has received unlimited support from the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, which called us to develop more realistic and ambitious future plans in dealing with narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.”
     
    Al-Shammari pointed out, "The Ministry of Interior worked in coordination with the Supreme National Authority for Drug Control to amend Drug Law No. (50) of 2017 in line with the nature of the work of the General Directorate for Drug Control in the ministry, in addition to allocating plots of land in Baghdad and the provinces to establish new buildings for the headquarters of The directorates and their dependencies are in line with the size of the development in work and the ability to deal with the great response to the pursuit of the dealers of these toxins.”
