The coronation ceremony of Charles III, King of Britain, to succeed his mother, Queen Elizabeth, kicked off at Westminster Abbey in London.
King Charles took an oath, declaring his allegiance to the Church and the Kingdom.
After signing the oath, King Charles said: "I will keep the legislation to the best of my ability and in accordance with the law.".
About 2,300 invitees, including about a hundred state leaders and dignitaries, will attend the coronation ceremony, in ceremonies not seen in the country in 70 years, when Queen Elizabeth II was installed to succeed her father, King George.
Queen Elizabeth died last September at the age of 96.
