Politicians and security leaders congratulated today, Wednesday, all journalists in the world on the occasion of World Press Day.
The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, blessed, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "We extend our best congratulations and blessings to the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and the press and media family on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day," calling for "supporting this important segment and caring for the families of the martyrs among them, in appreciation for their great sacrifices.
He praised "the role of the fourth authority in strengthening the democratic system in Iraq, and the need for it to take a greater role in monitoring government performance, and supporting efforts aimed at eliminating corruption," directing "parliamentary committees concerned with discussing draft laws related to supporting media work and guaranteeing the rights and protection of journalists."INA
