Al-Sudani chairs an important security meeting at the joint operations headquarters

    The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, decided on Thursday,  to dismiss the commander of the Special Division, Lieutenant General Hamid Al-Zuhairi, on the background of the escape of the convict, Saad Kambesh, from the Karrada Maryam police station, while he issued a number of decisions.

    A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Media Office, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said, " Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, chaired today, Thursday, an important security meeting at the joint operations headquarters, in the presence of the Minister of Interior and senior security leaders."

    During the meeting, according to the statement, the overall security developments in the country were followed up, and the issue of the escape of the convicted former Sunni Endowment head, Saad Kambesh, was discussed Following this incident and based on the report on the details of the escape, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces decided to dismiss the commander of the Special Division, Lieutenant General Hamid Al-Zuhairi. This is due to the weakness of the procedures taken in this regard. He also directed his sovereignty to hold all defaulters accountable and punish them legally, and to re-evaluate the performance of the security services."
    Al-Sudani directed the closure of the detention center at the Karrada Maryam police station inside the Green Zone, which witnessed the crime of escape, and the transfer of the convicts to the prisons of the Ministry of Justice, and the placement of the senior corrupt detainees in other detention centers as with other wanted persons, and the abolition of any privacy in dealing with them as was usual. The crime is one, and it cannot be fragmented or classified according to position and influence, according to the text of the statement.

    The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces affirmed that "at a time when our security services are achieving great victories in various regions and military units, chasing and killing ISIS terrorists, pursuing drug dealers and smugglers, and attacking their hideouts, this major security breach occurs inside the Green Zone, as a result of a defect and negligence in the performance of duty or Collusion, all of which we will not allow, by re-evaluating the level of security performance, and holding the accomplices legally accountable, whatever their position and position, as the rule of law is above all."

    In the context of the meeting, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces directed all security services to review the plans set for the blessed Eid Al-Fitr holiday, and to be on standby in order to provide a safe environment for families celebrating the holiday, and to achieve smooth traffic in the streets.

    Al-Sudani also stressed, according to the statement, the review of the approved plans in some areas that witness tribe conflicts that threaten the security of citizens and disturb security in those areas.
