INSS arrests 21 accused of trafficking and transporting narcotics

    The Iraqi National Security Service INSS announced Thursday the arrest of 21 persons accused of trafficking and transporting narcotic substances in separate areas.

    INSS stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "with continuous intelligence and field follow-up of the activities of criminal networks that target the security of the country and its youth with drugs, the National Security Service has arrested (21) accused of drug trafficking and transporting it between the governorates," noting that "detachments The National Security Service in Babylon, and after careful follow-up of one of the drug dealers, he was arrested after he was lured into a tight ambush and in possession of about (49) thousand pills of the narcotic Captagon.

    It added, "The agency's detachments in Wasit province were also able to overthrow a drug dealer who was lured from Maysan province, in possession of (2) kilograms of crystal."

    It continued, "The service 's detachments carried out, at the same time, separate operations in the governorates (Holy Karbala, Najaf, Kirkuk, and Diyala), during which they arrested (19) accused of trafficking and promoting narcotic substances, and judicial arrest warrants were issued against them," pointing out that "the accused were referred with the seized items to the competent legal authorities to take the necessary measures against them in accordance with the law.”
