The President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met with American Ambassador to Iraq, Alina L. Romanowski, at the Baghdad Palace.
A statement by the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that ," Iraq-U.S. bilateral relationship was discussed during the meeting and how best to strengthen these ties across all sectors in a way that would most benefit both nations' interests and help ease tension in the region, which could be realized through dialogue".
The statement added,"President Rashid expressed thanks and gratitude to the U.S. for sustained support at every level. Furthermore, he underlined that expanding the horizon of cooperation between Iraq and the US is critical to deal with economic changes and addressing climate change, which Iraq is one of the most affected countries".
On her part, Ambassador Romanowski reiterated that the U.S. would continue to support Iraq's stability and security, emphasizing U.S.'s commitment to the strategic partnership with Iraq to provide necessary assistance.
