Interior Minister: Intensive work to control the Iraqi-Iranian borders

    Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari confirmed on Monday, that there is intensive work to control the Iraqi-Iranian borders.

    Al-Shammari said in a press conference he held with Maysan Governor Ali Dawai, which was attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the security forces are able to control matters in any region of the country, including Maysan Governorate."

    He added, "The aim of the visit is to see the security situation and evaluate the performance of security formations, units, and agencies," noting that "security challenges and ways to confront them were discussed, especially the issue of combating drugs and criminal crimes."

    Al-Shammari stressed "the necessity of coordinating the intelligence and security effort and providing support to the security services," explaining that "he will brief with the undersecretaries of the ministry about the needs and requirements for the success of the work of these agencies in the province and the completion of plans to strengthen the presence of the security forces, as well as providing logistical support of weapons and equipment and all their needs in preparation for receiving the entire security file."

    He added, "There is extensive work on controlling the Iraqi-Iranian borders, and there are procedures in this regard," noting that "this visit will include a number of joints, departments, and institutions in the province."

    For his part, Dawai praised during the conference "the efforts and follow-up of the Minister of Interior," noting that "details of the security situation in the province were discussed, and there are plans developed by the Ministry of Interior to address security gaps and breaches in the province, especially the issue of combating drugs and Tribal conflicts."

     
      He affirmed "the governorate's support for the work of the security services," pointing out that "there is a plan prepared to complete the project of installing security cameras."
