Head of the IMN: The first media scientific conference will be an annual event

    The head of the Iraqi Media Network, Dr. Nabil Jassim, announced Wednesday, the convening of the first media scientific conference, and he indicated that the conference would discuss 14 solid researches presented by specialized professors and confirmed that it would be an annual event.

     Dr. Jassim said, in his speech during the conference, which was attended by the reporter of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Iraqi Media Network is honored to attend its first scientific media conference, which will discuss over two days the issue of public broadcasting, which has been facing challenges and competition for years from the unconventional and not popular or known media." 

     He added, "Social media is beginning to capture the attention of a large part of the audience and attract wide segments, not only in Iraq but also in the whole world, which requires updating, changing and reconsidering the general system of the usual classic broadcasting in terms of style, means, equipment and the level of discourse.”

     He continued: "Based on the media message carried by the official media institution of the Iraqi state, represented by the Iraqi Media Network, this conference will be held, which will be an annual event with the participation and commendable effort of professors in Iraqi universities and scientific research centers, to lay and crystallize the solid foundations for dealing with opportunities for public broadcasting in this field."  The pivotal stage in the history of media, through the presentation and discussion of 14 solid researches presented by specialized professors.

     He stressed that "one of the most important priorities of the Iraqi Media Network is to embed an official and responsible discourse that attracts all segments of Iraqi society and its components and meets the needs of society based on the constitution of the state and the foundations of its pluralistic democratic system, which allows active participation in building and strengthening security and stability."

    He added, "We have been keen to move through this methodology at a rapid pace, and we were able, within a short period of time, to present a balanced and responsible media material, which approached the Iraqi citizen for all its categories, to truly represent the state's media, not the media of a non-state party."

    On the other hand, the director of the Media Training Institute in the Iraqi Media Network, Hassan Al-Suwaidi, confirmed: “We in the Iraqi Media Network know the importance of the concept of public broadcasting that frames our work.  It had no practical applications in Iraq before 2003," and he hoped that "the research presented to the conference will contribute to clarifying and strengthening the concept of public broadcasting and its challenges."
