Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi confirmed today, Sunday, that Parliament supports the government in the file of Iraq's strengthening of its relations with its neighborhood and its regional and international environment.
The media office of the Speaker of Parliament said, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Halbousi received the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, and his accompanying delegation, and they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, developments in the political situation in the region, and prospects for joint cooperation."
Al-Halbousi affirmed, according to the statement, that " Parliament supports the government in the file of Iraq's strengthening of its relations with its neighborhood and its regional and international surroundings, welcoming the understanding and the return of relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which will contribute to the consolidation of security and stability in the region."
For his part, Shamkhani affirmed "his country's desire to develop bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields, and renewed his thanks for the Iraqi role in the rounds of dialogue that took place between the Iranian and Saudi sides."
