Al-Sudani Chairs Meeting on Recent Rainfall Impact

    Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed today, Saturday, the continued mobilization of service and relief efforts for those affected by the flood waves.

    The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “ Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani chaired a meeting today, Saturday, convened to discuss the impacts of the recent heavy rainfall. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Interior, Minister of Trade, Mayor of Baghdad, the General Coordinator for Provincial Affairs, Prime Minister's Deputy Chief of Staff, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, and several other officials.

    During the meeting, Prime Minister Al-Sudani reviewed a detailed report on the damages caused by the recent heavy rainfall events, both in terms of service disruption and their impact on agricultural lands. He emphasized that the meeting was held to precisely assess and address these damages. He noted the timing of the rainfall coinciding with the harvest season and ongoing government service projects, which has compounded the challenges faced.

    The Prime Minister was briefed on the status of harvesting, grain storage, and water levels in the dams, including measures taken to leverage the rainfall to enhance water reserves and manage them effectively.

    The Minister of Interior presented a report detailing the actions undertaken by the National Center for Crisis and Disaster Management in response to the recent heavy rainfall.

    Prime Minister Al-Sudani directed the continuation of emergency service and relief efforts for those affected by the flooding, stressing the need to step up the efforts of crops processing due to the current weather conditions in Iraq.
