MOI: The Council of Ministers approved the establishment of a mandatory clinics for drug addicts

    The Minister of Interior, Abd al-Amir al-Shammari, confirmed today, Saturday, that the Council of Ministers approved the establishment of a mandatory clinics for drug addicts.

    The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the Minister of Interior, Abd al-Amir al-Shammari, participated in a dialogue session organized by the Community Opinion Authority, in the presence of a number of social figures, including tribal sheikhs and notables, university professors and researchers in law, sociology and psychology, And governmental, parliamentary and judicial agencies, and the media, to discuss the scourge of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, and the impact of websites.

    Al-Shammari stressed, during the session, that "the Ministry of Interior has taken a number of measures in combating narcotics and psychotropic substances, including obtaining approvals from the Council of Ministers to establish forced clinics for drug users, in addition to making radical changes in the connection of the Narcotics Control Directorate through restructuring and organization.".

    He pointed out, "There are good results in the work of this directorate, in addition to continuing the process of border control and preventing the entry of these toxins," stressing at the same time, "All these measures and concerted efforts by community organizations, notables and clan sheikhs, and awareness campaigns." And education by the media will have a clear impact on reducing drug trafficking and abuse."
