One of the leaders of global drug trafficking networks was repatriated, the Ministry of Interior's General Directorate of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Affairs announced Monday.
"Based on the directives of the Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, and the involvement of Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari in following up the file of drug traffickers wanted by the Iraqi judiciary through intensive follow-up with neighboring and friendly countries in this important file, a specialized team has been formed headed by the Director General of Narcotics Affairs," according to a statement from the directorate obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The repatriation process followed "high-level coordination with officials and specialists in one of the neighboring countries to follow up on the file of exchange of wanted individuals between the two countries and the implementation of agreements and treaties in this regard," the statement continued.
