Basra Governorate will host, on Sunday (March 12-13), the Iraq Climate Conference, under the auspices and attendance of Prime Minister Muhammad S. Al-Sudani, with broad international, governmental and trade union participation, to discuss and address climate change in Iraq.
The conference will discuss the causes, influences and impacts of climate change on Iraq, and ways to address the phenomena resulting from that change, foremost of which is the expansion of desertification, water scarcity and environmental damage.
The conference is part of the efforts to implement the priorities of the Government's programme and endeavors to find sustainable solutions to reduce and mitigate climate change that has made Iraq the most affected.
