The government seeks to close 25 camps for displaced in Kurdistan

    The Ministry of Immigration and Displacement confirmed today, Tuesday, that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani is personally following the file of the voluntary return of the displaced and resolving their problems, while indicating the move to close 25 camps for the displaced in Kurdistan.
     
    The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Immigration, Karim Al-Nouri, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the visit of Guterres, to Iraq, sends a message of the United Nations' interest in the issue of the displaced in Iraq and the solution to the crisis," noting that "this visit is consistent with the issue of the displaced in line with the government program approved by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani.
     
    Al-Nouri added, "Guterres urged the countries of the world, during his visit, to withdraw their citizens from the displacement camps, in addition to that he urged the countries of the world to follow the example of Iraq, as it is a leading country in dealing with this crisis."
     
    Regarding the return of the displaced, Al-Nouri stressed that "the return cannot be forced, as the problems faced by the displaced families can be solved under Al-Sudani government," noting that "the Prime Minister is personally following up on the voluntary return of the displaced and resolving their problems, in addition to the presence of communication with the region Kurdistan to help the ministry close more than 25 camps.”
     
    Regarding the most prominent obstacles facing the displaced and the disbursement of financial dues, Al-Nouri said, "There are some logistical issues regarding their homes, while others are due to the security situation."
