Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani affirmed on Saturday, that the honest employee is the main tool that the government relies on in implementing its programs and reforms, while indicating that everyone will be subject to evaluation, starting from the simple employee to those in the highest level.

A statement by the Media Office of the Prime Minister, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that " Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed S. Al-Sudani honored a group of outstanding and creative employees working in state institutions during the 5th Employee Appreciation Day Festival, held this Saturday morning by Baghdad Governorate in cooperation with the University of Baghdad and Al-Mustansiriyah University”.

Al-Sudani said in his speech during the event," We meet this special group of employees who exemplify altruism, dedication, and integrity. Each one of them has a great story that deserves recognition.”

“Among these stories is the story of the truck driver whose son was murdered by terrorist gangs, and he learned while driving a truck loaded with goods belonging to the state. He refused to bury his son until the goods were properly delivered, setting an example of integrity, patience, and commitment,” he added.

“Also, the story of the director of the examination center who woke up to cries in his house because of the death of his son. Instead of holding a funeral, he went to the examination center and opened the school for students to take their exams, which was a sign of beautiful patience and concern for students' future,”

He continued ,”The heroic work of the medical team at Al-Wasity Teaching Hospital, who worked for an entire day, day and night, to transplant an Iraqi child's arm that was severed from his body. And also the story of an Iraqi woman working in Kimadia whose integrity, diligence, and honesty enabled her to recover (50) million dollars, which could have gone into the pockets of the corrupt as she reduced the contracts for one of the vaccines from (80) million dollars to (30) million dollars.”

“These stories are examples of many stories of Iraqi heroes, men and women. It is unfortunate that a lot of the media networks only cover negative images and stories and do not address the positive stories that we have a lot of”, he emphasized.

Al-Sudani also affirmed that Patriotic and professional duty requires that the media pay attention to these bright images. It should endeavor to sow frustration and melancholy among people by portraying all employees as corrupt, bribe-takers, and dishonest in performing their duties.

“Competent employee is the most crucial element in the country's progress and prosperity wherever they are and in any work position. As for incompetent and lazy employees who spread negative energy, bribery, corruption, and impede the delivery of services to the people will be a burden on competent employees and a source of distortion to their diligent efforts,” he continued.

“ The government has drawn up an integrated approach to administrative reform in all state institutions to achieve its program and vision, represented by streamlining the procedures of state institutions and ending corruption, nepotism, and red tape delay. The loyal, diligent, honest, and competent employee, whatever their work title, is the primary instrument that the government relies on in implementing its programs and reforms,”

He stressed that “No program can be implemented without competent elements. We will not allow stalling projects to continue due to incompetence, corruption, or negligence. Everyone, including myself, will be evaluated and reviewed, from the low-level employees to the highest-level leaders in the government.”

He also pointed out “ We cannot continue to suffer and ask the people to bear the cost of nepotism here or there, which brought this negligent official or that corrupt employee”.

Al-Sudani concluded his speech by saying “I salute you and commend Baghdad Governorate for this great work. And I thank the team that worked hard to bring these outstanding employees who will be a source of inspiration to all government departments”.
