The member of the Lebanese Parliament and a member of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union-AIPU, Michel Mosa, confirmed on Friday, that Iraq plays a fundamental and pivotal role in establishing relations between brotherly Arab countries and resolving the differences in the region that have prevailed for many years.
Mosa said during the 31st session in Baghdad, and according to a statement by the Media Department of the parliament, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Iraq has a clear imprint through holding meetings and conferences in order to bring together the views of policy-makers", pointing out that " holding this conference in Baghdad for the current session gives it the full impetus in pursuing the work that is in the interest of all Arab States".
Regarding the earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey, the Lebanese MP added that "There will be a clear attitude of solidarity with the victims of this natural disaster," affirming "When there is a humanitarian need, the borders are abolished, and there is solidarity and complementarity among all. This is the case for the Arab States, for further humanitarian support with this tragedy, in the hope that Syria will return to assume its position in the League of Arab States to exercise its pivotal role in promoting joint Arab action."
For his part, MP Fahmy Al-Zaarir, Secretary of the Palestinian National Council, a member of Parliament and a member of the Executive Committee of the Arab Parliament Union, affirmed that "The extraordinary meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the Arab Parliament Union, which was held yesterday, discussed the most important issues on two parts, the first of which is the development and activation of the work mechanisms of the Arab Parliament Union, and the second part is providing the necessary capabilities in preparation for the conference that will be held tomorrow, Saturday.
Al-Zaarir pointed out that "Iraq is taking great steps to restore its role as the leader of the Arab nation," appreciating "the role of the Iraqi parliament, which hosts the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union with high organizational capabilities."
The Libyan MP and a member of the Executive Committee, Dr. Abd al-Salam Nasiya, confirmed that "The extraordinary session of the Union of Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union included two items, the first related to developing the work mechanisms of the Arab Parliamentary Union, and the second was regarding the parliament's budget and matters related to the work of the Union."
He indicated that "The meeting touched on setting a strategy for the union from 2023 to 2026," noting that "there is a great opportunity to activate the role of the Union as a result of the development of joint Arab action with the presence of brotherly Iraq, the Syrian Arab Republic and all Arab countries, so the union must take its role in the future."
Nasiya valued Iraq's role in holding the conference's activities, and thus it supports the stability of Iraq," noting that "everyone knows Iraq's great role in joint Arab action, and we are happy for Iraq's return to embracing Arab countries and its presence in Arab forums."
He stressed that "The stability of the Arab world is part of the stability of Iraq, and there is no doubt that Iraq's role is important in the Arab nation."
In turn, The Somalian MP Al-Saeed Muhammad Mahmoud and a member of the Arab Inter- Parliamentary Union, Al-Saeed Muhammad Mahmoud, confirmed that "Iraq is witnessing a strong return to hosting conferences that work to solve problems in Arab countries."
He noted that "Iraq is witnessing a return to the Arab arena and has a prominent role in leadership, Iraq is also the first to embrace everything that would unite the Arab world."
