Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Communications and Media Commission, Mahmoud Al-Rubaie, stressed today, Thursday, the importance of participating in the digital revolution and progress in the communications sector and its infrastructure in Iraq.
Al-Rubaie said in a speech during the activities of the special forum held by the Ministry of Communications on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the General Company for Communications and Information Technology - attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "I offer my heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the Communications and Media Commission and on behalf of the members of the Board of Commissioners who attended to participate in this joyful occasion in Basra, where the first official switchboard of 300 lines was operated.
" Al-Rubaie stressed the "necessity of teaching the new generations the importance of this ancient history," noting that "we must teach our children that Iraq had the telegraph and postal services a hundred years ago and that the modern Iraqi state was not established through its valiant army alone, but through civil institutions that played a fundamental role in organizing life and enforcing the law."
He explained that "Iraq - despite the challenges of the past - had and still has a great cultural heritage."
Al-Rubaie stressed the "importance of participating in the digital revolution," stressing, "We must catch up with the digital transformation and rebuild the communications sector at the latest levels, in cooperation to achieve prosperity for our Iraqi people."
