PM directed to meet the needs of the Iraqis affected by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey

    The official spokesman for the government, Basem Al-Awadi, announced today, Saturday, the formation of a government crisis cell to organize the provision of relief aid to the Syrian and Turkish peoples, and the issuance of a directive from Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani to meet the needs of the Iraqis affected by the earthquake in the two countries.

    Al-Awadi told Iraqi Media Network News (IMN), and was followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "There is a direct interest from Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani in the file of relief for the Syrian and Turkish peoples against the backdrop of the earthquake, and he directed, since the day of the disaster, to form a technical committee to develop the necessary plans and mechanisms.".

    He added, "In light of the Prime Minister's directive, the committee coordinator was instructed to form a large crisis cell in which 11 Iraqi ministries, as well as the Civil Defense and the Red Crescent, were involved. The requests for assistance submitted by Syria and Turkey were presented to the Council of Ministers, and Al-Sudani instructed them to make the necessary financial transfers to submit them.".

    He continued, "The Prime Minister also directed to facilitate the crossing of governmental and non-governmental convoys to the Syrian side to deliver humanitarian aid and communicate with the Iraqis affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, and to meet all their needs.".

    Al-Awadi pointed out, "Two flights will be conducted tomorrow to provide relief to the Syrian and Turkish peoples, and there is a directive to involve the Iraqi transport fleet to transport hundreds of tons of relief materials to the two countries."
