Al-Halbousi calls on the international community to stand up to extremists

Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi called on Sunday, on the international community to stand up to extremists .

Al-Halbousi said in a tweet, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We rejected extremism, fought it and shed blood to eliminate it, and the international community must stand up to extremists who threaten peace in the world by insulting religions."

He added, "It is a direct call to the Swedish government to prevent the recurrence of insulting the Holy Qur'an, to hold the offender accountable, and to respect the feelings of Muslims around the world."
