Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met on Tuesday, the Head of the Social Protection Authority and the senior management in the presence of several advisors.
The media office of the Prime Minister stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that," Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met on Tuesday, the Head of the Social Protection Authority and the senior management in the presence of several advisors."
“During the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of achieving the main objectives of the Social Protection Law and benefiting from government support to ensure that welfare aid reaches the right people,” the statement added.
According to the statement, “PM affirmed that the work and effectiveness of the Social Protection Welfare Program represent one of the priorities in the government program, and the government will not allow this issue to be used for any inhumane purposes or to be subject to political exploitation.
Al-Sudani also ordered expanding the coverage of the welfare program to include more low-income families indicating that the beneficiaries of the social protection welfare program will be provided with a special ration of foodstuffs starting in January.
The statement indicated that “The meeting also discussed the funding allocations of the Social Protection Authority in the Social Protection Bill for the year 2023, highlighting the need to provide support for social workers and all the means required for the success of their work. He also instructed the Ministry and all state institutions and governors to support the Social Protection Authority and its departments and divisions in the governorates.”
